My year of gratitude, + some changes!
A New Year has started, and I'm not going to claim a "new me".. but I will be a better me. For my marriage, my family, my son. My year of gratitude starts today :)
I recently started reading the book "The Gratitude Diaries" by Janice Kaplan. The book is about a woman's journey of being grateful for the entire year, seeing the bright and positive side of everything. The book is packed with case studies, and experiences that she went through. Every night, she would write down 3 things that she was grateful for, for THAT day. Even if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and you were a victim of Murphy's Law; Dig deep to find those 3 things.
The book states a study done at Cornell reveals that people get more joy from experiences than actual material objects. This has really helped me open my eyes, I don't need the latest equipment or a $200 camera bag. I want and need experiences, especially with my family. Meeting new clients. Getting to know people, and enjoy being present. One of my New Year Resolutions will be spend more quality time with my family, to give my son more present time, and experiences.
With that being said, I have made some changes! Good changes! This year I have decided to specialize!! This will give me more quality time with my family. I will be specializing in Seniors and Family sessions (This includes lifestyle sessions, because lets face it, those are my favorite!) I will also take a very small handful of weddings by referral only. This will be my first year diving into the senior market, and I'm very excited and optimistic. I have a couple awesome senior reps who will help me make this happen. We will be shooting a senior rep shoot this spring, and the ideas just keep flowing. Very excited to see that vision come to life. This spring, I will also be including video/film clips into my lifestyle sessions! I'm slowly starting to get into filming little snippets and am excited to learn more!
Here's to 2016 and to all that it will bring!!
